Testimonials

  • As part of the drive to reduce VAWG, South Yorkshire Police introduced WalkSafe across the whole of the force area – the first county-wide launch in the UK. The app was launched in South Yorkshire in the summer of 2024, and the force worked with the WalkSafe team to develop a version of the app that is quite bespoke to the county.

Thousands of users have now downloaded the free app, which has multiple applications including the tracking safety map, and hundreds of venues meeting safety criteria – including a number of major sporting organisations – have now been added to the safety map, as part of the proactive efforts to reduce violence against women and girls.

Did you know that 63% of women would choose to attend a venue that has personal safety accreditation in place?

Our research has found that the public don’t know how to find safe venues, so WalkSafe have created the UK’s leading Safety Map which maps the location of Safe Spaces nationwide, the location of security teams live on the map as well as the ability to have bespoke customisation based on the users location. This creates an environment of personal safety locally as well as nationally – leading to safer communities.
